Hacks and Commentary

I'd like to take a moment to highlight some of the great things that the TTRPG community has made with Why Necromancy Doesn't Exist.

Why Owlbears are Beasts by Tragos Games

Why Owlbears Are Beasts is a commentary on Why Necromancy Doesn’t Exist, with a few ideas for playing it (either as a stand-alone game or as a supplemental mini-game) and for hacking it (either by expanding its scope or by altering its subject).

Why Owlbears are Beasts is a great commentary on the game, and an excellent blend of form and content. I cannot recommend it enough.

Why Illusions are BS by Basil Vesca

Why Illusions Are BS is a hack of my one-page arguing-over-taxonomy game, Why Necromancy Doesn't Exist. While Why Necromancy Doesn't Exist is about the petty rivalries and arguments of academia, Why Illusions Are BS is about arguing on the internet. It is can be played in Discord Threads, over Tumblr posts, or anywhere that you can argue with your friends about magic taxonomy online.

Why Illusions are BS is a hack created by my friend Basil, which I knew I had to write down as soon as I saw it. It was developed for play-by-text over Discord, but can be played in any online text format.
